Technical Trouble

Our worlds have grown far apart.
We use to be a field away,
then it was a town.
Now I speak to someone hundreds
of miles from me,
Who may rub elbows with you
at lunch today.

There was a time it took a week
for mail to arrive,
Now 2 seconds and a text
lands in my hand.

It isn't the miles that make the
Difference, it is space that is lacking,
Space in our our lives and
In our hearts.

How can we be so far apart
And yet so close?
Sometimes our minds cannot
span the time and distance,

Yet our hands persist in trying.
