REMEMBRANCE
When did the world stop? I don't
remember noticing. Maybe it was when I heard that you had left and given no forwarding
address.
I know you hadn't planned this trip,
but surely you could have let me know. So what if you didn't want to go, you did
go, you know.
I am sitting looking out the window,
watching the leaves shake themselves free and realize that much like them you
have done the same.
You have left us behind and taken the
path that has no twists, but goes straight on til the morning of forever rises.
You took my hand so long ago and walked
a ways with me. We traveled from childhood, through pain of change and
growth and death of love.
Now you have gone, taking the memories
of our youth and love.
All the memories we shared are shared
by none, but held by me.
May all you hoped for and all you
longed for be there when you reach the end of your journey and joy find you in the
rising of eternity.
